Marian Pokrywka

Marian Pokrywka, MT (ASCP), MS, CIC is an Infection Preventionist at UPMC Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA.  Marian has been in infection prevention for 33 years and worked at several UPMC hospitals including Presbyterian, Shadyside, Montefiore and UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.  Prior to being in infection prevention, Marian worked as a microbiology technologist and held an assistant clinical professorship at the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Medical Technology.

 

Marian has a B.S. in biology from Chatham University and obtained her M.S. in microbiology from the Graduate School of Public Health at the University of Pittsburgh.  Marian has previously served as Chair of the Transplant Focus Group for national APIC, and has organized the MRSA community service education initiative at the local Chapter level.  Marian has authored and presented numerous abstracts at national meetings, co-authored peer review articles on several infection prevention topics and she is a co-author contributor to the APIC Core Curriculum text. Currently, Marian serves as the Co-chair of the APIC Three Rivers Annual Educational Conference.

We are the Three Rivers APIC chapter serving Western Pennsylvania and Northern West Virginia.
